The Sky Elstree Car Park Banner Wrap project demonstrates how large-format print can transform a functional structure into a landmark visual solution. Spanning all four elevations of Sky Studios Elstree’s newly constructed multi-storey car park, the installation utilised large-format printed banner graphics to celebrate some of the most iconic productions in film and television, including E.T., Jaws, Jurassic Park and Wicked.

The project brief from our clients was to install this visually impactful exterior branding solution that reflected Sky’s creative identity while maximising the appeal of the new facility. The finished installation needed to deliver strong visual impact from both close-range and long-distance viewing positions, creating an engaging experience for visitors, staff and passing traffic whilst complementing the scale and of the building. However we also had to work with the more practical side or a car park which was largely open to the elements – which is where the banner split effect came in to play along with the use of mesh material for the banners.

The graphics needed to remain bold and recognisable from vast distances away while also standing up to close inspection. Through careful production, the final installation delivered exceptional print with quality and consistency across all elevations, creating a cohesive visual statement around the entire structure.

A key element of the project’s success was the innovative integration of a specialist tensioned banner system. Due to the scale of the graphics and the constraints of the building, bespoke support bracketry was used and installed specifically for the project. This solution allowed the printed banners to be securely mounted whilst maintaining a clean, uninterrupted appearance that enhanced the visual impact of the artwork.

Installation required extensive planning, coordination and technical expertise. Each banner was carefully lowered into position and progressively tensioned to achieve a drum-tight finish across the building façade. Precision was critical to ensure artwork alignment, consistency between panels and a flawless overall appearance. The installation team worked closely with all project stakeholders to minimise disruption while delivering the project safely, efficiently and to the highest possible standard.

The completed project showcases the power of large-scale print as both a branding and placemaking tool. What was previously a functional parking structure became an instantly recognisable extension of the Sky Studios campus, celebrating storytelling and entertainment through impactful visual communication. The scale of the graphics, combined with their vibrant reproduction and technical execution, created a memorable installation that attracts attention from multiple viewpoints throughout the site.

This project successfully delivered against the aspect of 2 client’s briefs as well as the end clients. combining creativity, engineering and print excellence to create a large-format installation of exceptional quality. Through innovative use of substrates and fixing systems, amazing print production and flawless execution, the Sky Elstree Car Park Banner Wrap demonstrates the transformative potential of large-scale print and its ability to create lasting visual impact in the built environment.
