It is anticipated to gain more than a million views during the two weeks of this iconic sporting and cultural event.
We used self-adhesive vinyl to provide a stunning result with minimal disruption.

The Brief

Working alongside our long-term Wimbledon partner, we were appointed to carry out the installation of various, high-level advertising projects for the Wimbledon 2026 Championships.
This huge project involved a four-storey commercial building opposite Wimbledon station. Marketed as ‘The Overhead’, the display, seen exiting the station, would prove to be unmissable. It is anticipated to gain more than a million views during the two weeks of this iconic sporting and cultural event. However, there would be challenges due to the nature of the building and that access below the building was constrained, meaning rope access would be required to carry it out.

The Solution

This project took almost months of discussions, planning and test installations with many different parties, prior to actual installation beginning. A 3D laser scan of the building was commissioned to help with measurements and accuracy of the installation.
Every self-adhesive vinyl piece printed was individually trimmed, rolled and labelled by the printers so that they would be be easily identifiable and in a pre-agreed installation order.

Using their years of knowledge, in both the rope access and signage industries, operatives maintained a high awareness knowing the building was occupied, alongside the usual care and attention accorded to the public passing below. It was no easy task with the complexity of having to do it all from ropes, abseiling twenty metres down the front of the building. Every inch of this installation was closely monitored by our managers and client, literally, as high-grade, FUJINON TECHNO-STABI TS-X 1440 binoculars were employed as installation proceeded. 2-way radio communication permitted instant updates to be fed back to the abseilers while work was underway, ensuring an immaculate finish.
The abseilers installed the vinyl to the windows, working in pairs to ensure every section was perfectly aligned and positioned exactly as specified. With large graphics spread across multiple window panels, even the slightest misalignment would have been noticeable, so constant communication and teamwork were essential throughout the installation. Once each section was accurately positioned, the backing paper was carefully removed before specialist vinyl application tools were used to work the material onto the glass. The vinyl was then expertly moulded into the individual window frames, removing any air pockets or creases while maintaining the continuity of the overall design.

The result

The result was a stand-out production – a stunning display by any measure. The clients were amazed and delighted with the end result. It did exactly what it was intended to do and it will get the arriving Wimbledon crowds in the mood for the tennis to come. The installation was an event in itself, with many people stopping to watch and photograph the work in progress. All this whilst producing the least amount of disruption possible to the surrounding area and the building staff. All in all, a great result!!

Then, once the Championships are over, the entire installation will be carefully removed and the building is returned to its original appearance, as though we were never there. That’s the beauty of combining rope access with high-quality self-adhesive vinyl – it allows for the installation of spectacular, large-scale graphics without permanent alterations to the building. The transformation is completely temporary, leaving no lasting trace while creating a memorable visual impact for one of the world’s most iconic sporting events.
