Having published the Tournament Guide for the Women’s Rugby World Cup, we had about a week to design and print the Final Programme for the two matches at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham. We worked in conjunction with World Rugby.
Four Final teams (Bronze match x2 and Final x2) were confirmed the weekend before (19 and 20 Sept) which allowed us to include squad biogs for all four nations and match 23s for the two games. It was planned to go to print in sections so we had to ensure all pages for each section were completed on time. Covers went to print first as they had matt lamination and spot UV treatment applied which worked well and gave the publication a premium feel. This is exactly what World Rugby requested – they wanted the Final Programme to standout in both its design and finish. Inside text pages went to print in three 32 page sections to complete to 100 page programme.
Content was included to celebrate the history of the Women’s Rugby World Cup as well as having editorial specific to the 2025 event: a feature on the ground staff who would be looking after the pitch ahead of the Finals was included because it was an all-female team. We also had a features on each nation’s head coach and new stars who had made their mark during WRWC 2025.
The female element was very important to World Rugby – they wanted to stress the impact of hosting a Women’s Rugby World Cup in England as well as promoting the Women’s game and the legacy of this World Cup.
The programme was designed by one person, he set up all the master pages and artworked the majority of the Final programme. World Rugby were delighted with the final product and on Finals Day it sold out.
